Violence is an answer?

Everywhere i hear people saying that violence is NEVER the answer.
Not only do I think that violence is something not in-itself evil or bad, but it is something essential within the world, being an unavoidable aspect of it.

Evolution requires violence. It requires bloodshed in order for stronger types to evolve and adapt themselves to conditions whereby the sprouting of greater intelligence may be had. Our technological civilization of laws and amenities was only brought about due to the violence done to countless generations previous, who labored as the brick-builders of this our current epoch in time. It is due to such violent tendencies in our world that goodness, virtue, perseverance, progress and art may finally bloom into existence. It is violence that prevents us from turning mediocre and overly comfortable.  We strive for perfection because we want a non-violent existence. It is violence which makes us keep on keepin' on, and more.

  1. that's an interesting point you raise there.

but "good" violenece is the one we see in animals. it's survival of the fittest, food, become stronger... evolution.

human violence is often gratuitious or coward.

    my two cents ;)

  2. Violence is definitely a needed behaviour in the world, it picks our weak and strong, brilliant and ludicrous. It's a evolutionary technology changing force that has forced us to keep on our toes since we clubbed our neighboring cave-man on the head.

Without war we'd probably be a lot closer to over-population by now.. And a lot of history would be lost, a lot of historical figures.

  3. Competition doesn't have to be violent. What you're suggesting is social darwinism. Which is not how most modern countries work especially in Europe. Given that we have a capitalistic financial system, we still have some very 'sociialist' safety nets like mostly free health care, free universities, welfare, etc.

  4. I feel that violence is necessary. Not always as a first resort, but maybe a final one.

  5. In this day and age, I don't think it is at all necessary. I'm sure we can one day be able to bring peace and provide well for everyone on the planet without the means of violence (or maybe as a absolute last resort).

  6. Yeah right
It's not like violence makes you smart or anything
Most scientists are not at all strong or violent, and they're the ones who are making the world evolve at the moment

  7. I think you people don't undertand what i'm trying to say. I do not believe violence is THE answer. Violence is a part of humanity and life. I think in a wider sense than just physical violence and coercion. Violence can take many forms. We all live in one world, with limited space and resources. Whenever two wills clash - there is violence.

  8. I understand what your saying and partially agree with you. It's in our animal instincts to attack what we don't comprehend/fear and smash our rivals to pieces out of jealousy. Sad but true.

  9. I don't know if I would go so far as to say violence is an essential to human evolution. Anymore I'm doubtful that you can say humans are evolving (as natural selection doesn't play near the same role for us that it once did).

It is however true that it is at times an unavoidable necessity. It's strange to me, the idea that it accomplishes nothing under any circumstances. I think of the original Star Wars films as an easy example, while the emperor is a sith and therefor undeniably evil, it's easy to compare his breed of tyranny to real world examples. I've never heard anyone say Luke was wrong to blow up the deathstar.

  12. Well to be honest as the homo sapiens are animals it's in our nature to fight to establish our dominance however in modern times violence is not the answer anymore, so yeah I agree with you kind of. Nice blog by the way.

  13. I think violence may not be the last resort, but it may be a good answer, depending on the situation. In the USA, SOPA is going to pass. We've been peacefully protesting, but it isn't working. SOPA denies some of our basic rights! So I think a little violence could help the anti-SOPA cause. This is just my opinion though.

  15. As long as we are capable of violence someone will use it to get what they want.

  18. I think we need violence for at least one important reason, and one of my favorite things: Revenge. I dig your brooding style.
